Land Recognition
We acknowledge that we operate on the traditional and ancestral lands of the diverse Indigenous Peoples of Treaty No. 4, Treaty No. 6, Treaty No. 7, Treaty No. 8 and Treaty No. 10 territories and the Métis homelands, including the Métis settlements. Alberta has a rich history as a home and meeting place for diverse Indigenous nations, predating the establishment of numbered treaties with early settlers.
As members of SAR Alberta, we recognize the deep connection Indigenous Peoples have with the land and we strive to preserve and respect the natural environment. Our efforts in conducting search and rescue operations are guided by this commitment.
We pay our respects to the Elders past, present and emerging by laying our tracks in service to our communities. We acknowledge the ongoing efforts of Indigenous communities to sustain their cultures and natural resources. May our endeavours reflect respect for the land and contribute to the safety and well-being of all who inhabit and visit it.
