President’s Message

As SAR Alberta wraps up another year we would like to thank all SAR volunteers for the work you do. It is a reminder at this time of the year that “this we do so others may live.”

While there have been many challenges this year for SAR Alberta as an organization, we have also made progress moving forward and have implemented a number of positive projects. Those include the recent Team Development Workshop and the SAR Managers workshop.
In the new year we will be introducing the new Distance to Assistance program which will focus on social media messaging encouraging backcountry user awareness around the time it takes help to arrive.
We have developed and adopted a full safety program that is available for all teams to adopt.
We have also developed a three year plan to coordinate our efforts going forward. We have a good working relationship with the OFC and look forward to working with the Fire Commissioner in the new year.
These are just a few of the initiatives we are working on.
Thank you to SAR Coordinator Mike Cook for all your hard work over the last few years and for your commitment and ongoing support of SAR. SAR Alberta appreciates all you have done and we wish you well.

On behalf of SAR Alberta I wish you all a safe and Merry Christmas and all the very best in the New Year.
